A Divine Celebration of Ashadhi Ekadashi
Pune, Maharashtra | 4th July, 2025
सोहळा जमला आषाढी वारीचा
सण आला पंढरीचा,
मेळा जमला भक्तगणांचा,
ध्यास विठुमाऊलीच्या दर्शनाचा…
Ashadhi Ekadashi is an auspicious occasion dedicated to Lord Shri Vitthala. Also known as Devshayani Ekadashi, the festival holds deep religious and cultural significance in the Hindu calendar, especially in the state of Maharashtra
This sacred day marks the beginning of Lord Vishnu’s divine slumber, a four-month period known as Chaturmas. Devotees across the state observe this occasion with immense devotion, particularly the Warkaris, who undertake the revered Pandharpur Wari Yatra in honour of Lord Vitthal and his consort, Rukmini
To familiarise children with our rich traditions and to honour the saints who upheld social equality and moral values, the Pre-Primary Section of S.B. Patil Public School celebrated Ashadhi Ekadashi with great zeal on 4th July, 2025
Children arrived dressed as ‘warkaris’, donning beautiful traditional costumes. The celebration began with full enthusiasm and excitement. Teachers shared insightful information about the significance of Ashadhi Ekadashi and the spiritual importance of the Pandharpur Yatra for devotees of Lord Vitthala
This was followed by a soulful devotional song, a traditional ‘kirtan’, and a mesmerising dance performance by our spirited little warkaris. A symbolic 'Vitthal Vari' procession was also organised on the school premises, where the children joyfully chanted the name of Lord Vitthala. This transformed the entire environment into one filled with devotion and divine energy
To celebrate the spirit of this sacred tradition and to instil its essence in young hearts, the Grade I and II students arrived dressed in vibrant traditional Maharashtrian attire — girls adorned in nauvaris with nath, gajra, and parkar polka, while the boys wore kurta-dhoti or kurta-pyjama paired with the iconic Gandhi topi. Their cheerful presence brought cultural charm and authenticity to the celebration.
The day was a joyful and meaningful blend of devotion and learning. Students took on the roles of revered saints, delivering dialogues that conveyed spiritual teachings and offered heartfelt prayers to Lord Vitthal. The Green House students uplifted the atmosphere with soulful group singing, followed by a vibrant dance performance that captured the energy and joy of the occasion
One of the highlights was the symbolic dindi procession — a spirited reenactment of the Warkari pilgrimage. The young participants, dressed as Warkaris, marched within the school premises carrying tulsi plants and banners while rhythmically chanting, "Vitthal Vitthal Vitthala Hari Om Vitthala
Through this celebration, students not only gained a deeper understanding of Ashadi Ekadashi’s religious importance but also explored the cultural richness of the Warkari Sampradaya. They learnt about devotional practices such as bhajans, kirtans, and dindis, and experienced the power of collective prayer and community spirit. The event helped nurture their emotional and spiritual well-being, reinforcing the values of devotion, tradition, and togetherness.
Little Yogis, Big Energy:
Spreading Smiles on International Yoga Day
Pune, Maharashtra | 20th and 23rd June, 2025
Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It's about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth about life.” — Shakuntala Devi (1929–2014)
Living by this philosophy, S.B. Patil Public School once again proved that true learning happens beyond textbooks and classrooms. Celebrating International Yoga Day 2025 with the global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the school embraced the spirit of unity, wellness, and mindful living through vibrant sessions held on 20th and 23rd June, 2025 — tailored specially for different age groups.
On 20th June, 2025, the pre-primary and primary sections (Grades I to V) participated in a lively and immersive yoga celebration. The youngest learners delighted in a series of activities that introduced them to asanas through movement, music, and storytelling.
A serene Omkara chant in three octaves by Senior KG students set a calm tone, followed by a graceful yoga-inspired dance performance. The showstopper was a mesmerising Surya Namaskar sequence by 12 students, synchronised to perfection — a rare feat for such young participants.
The sessions were guided by the Guest of Honour, Ms. Gauri Durgesh Karvir — a yoga instructor and educator with qualifications in MSc, BEd, and a Diploma in Yoga. With her grounding in Yog Prarambhik Pariksha and her current work on the government’s Happiness Index curriculum, Ms. Karvir brought both expertise and warmth to the mat. Her engaging approach, especially with the younger students, turned each posture into a moment of joy and mindfulness.
On 23rd June, 2025, the middle and secondary students (Grades VI to IX) took to the ground and halls for a deeper dive into the practice. Their session, which began at 08:20 AM, included more advanced asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, and Paschimottanasana — each chosen to build posture, stability, and calm. Breathing techniques like Bhramari Pranayama and Anulom Vilom further helped students centre themselves and connect breath with movement.
Spanning across the school’s auditorium hall, multipurpose hall, and synthetic ground, the event saw participation from both students and teachers. More than just a celebration, the day reinforced the value of yoga as a timeless discipline — not only for physical well-being but also for mental clarity and emotional resilience.
The celebration was a gentle yet powerful reminder: that the health of the self and the health of the planet are interlinked. As students stretched, breathed, and moved with intention, they also absorbed the deeper message of the day — to live mindfully, harmoniously, and in rhythm with the world around them.

A Practical Understanding of Indian History:
A Visit to the Deccan College Archaeological Museum
Pune Maharashtra | 21st June, 2024
Education should be beyond the four walls of the classroom, for that motive, the Ministry of Education through The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 recommends that children’s life at school must be linked to their life outside the school and this also
continues in recently proposed New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
On 21st June, 2024, S.B Patil Public School’s Grade VI students visited the Archaeological Museum at Deccan College, Pune. The field trip began with lots of enthusiasm and vigour as the heritage tour was a perfect example of connecting the gap between learning, knowledge, and real-life experiences which develop and broaden the students’
cultural perspective.
Our national leaders and reformers like Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Gopal Ganesh Agarkar also studied and got education from Deccan College which reflects the college’s legacy and heritage. It is a prestigious institution that has great work in research not only in India but in the world for subjects like archaeology, museum science, linguistics, and Sanskrit.
The visit was an engaging activity as students received hands-on experience on exploring artefacts, historical context and honing research skills. it also gave them a study of selective cultural remains of the human past and aimed to provide information on ancient Indian history culture and archaeology to the students,
teachers as well as general public.
The learning proved to be essential and a practical experience of all they learn in their textbooks on history in chapters such as ‘Our Pasts’. The chapter speaks about the journey of human life from hunters and gatherers to the Indus Valley Civilisation. In accordance to the guidelines provided by Central Vigilance Commission and a circular issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) (Circular No.: Acad - 105/2021), dated October 21st, 2021, a Vigilance Awareness pledge-taking ceremony was conducted at S.B. Patil Public School on October 28th, 2021.
Observed throughout the week from October 26th to November 1st, 2021, the pledge was themed on “Independent India @75: Self Reliance with Integrity” and was conducted to encourage the fight against corruption.
The principal, Dr. Bindu Saini; the school coordinator, Ms. Padmavati Banda, teachers and students of Grade VIII participated in the occasion. CCA in-charge, Ms. Swaleha Mujawar read out the Integrity Pledge (enclosed in Annexure 1 of the circular) which was repeated by everyone present.
The atmosphere resonated with a sense of responsibility as students and teachers took the pledge that called upon every citizen of our nation to stand up against one of the many social evils that is a burgeoningepidemic today: Corruption.
It addressed teachers and students on realising that corruption is a malicious disease which has infiltrated the blood-stream of our society, destroying every ounce of humanity in its path, and thus needs to be treated with utmost precedence. The task to be undertaken is cumbersome but not impossible if all citizens (particularly students) demonstrate a sensitive approach towards the issue, stand up tough and watchful against this massive adversary that is festering and thwarting India from becoming the great and united nation it is capable of being.
Giving at the Rashtriya Poshan Maah
Pune, Maharashtra | September, 2021
In accordance to the CBSE Circular (Circular No. Acad-78/2021 dated September 09th, 2021) schools were advised to undertake different activities to further accelerate various activities under the Poshan Abhiyan and to create a Jan Andolan in the process by adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.
As a part of celebration of Poshan Maah, it was felt appropriate that every child may be encouraged to share or offer a nutritious meal with at least one child from the underprivileged sections of the society, living in their neighbourhood. This will not only help the child understand the nutritional levels in the society, but also imbibe a sense of social responsibility, inclusion and volunteerism.
Towards this objective, all students were to be encouraged to share or offer nutritious food with underprivileged children. This would be extremely helpful in engaging children of the country in the celebration of Poshan Maah.

Following are words scriven by Ms. Phadke on the occasion:
