Memorable Field Trip On 28th July, 2023, all Grade X students from sections A to E embarked on an exciting field trip to Tolani Maritime Institute. The day was off to a promising start as we, a total of 180 students, gathered at the school campus at 8:30 am, eagerly awaiting the adventure that lay ahead. Accompanying us were our teachers: Ms. Darshana Kamat, Ms. Nirupama Kale, Ms. Rachana Sisodiya, Ms. Leena Verghese, Ms. Niveditha Biswas, Ms. Rashami Godiya, Ms. Anita Suryavanshi and Ms. Susmita Roy.

Memorable Field Trip The journey to the institute was a delightful experience, thanks to the lush greenery that surrounded us due to the ongoing rainy season. The beauty of nature outside the windows added to our excitement, making the trip feel like a refreshing getaway.

Memorable Field Trip Upon reaching the institute, we were warmly welcomed by Captain Sharma, who gave us a fascinating introduction to the world of Merchant Navy. His insights and experiences piqued our interest and left us inspired to explore the possibilities this field had to offer.

Tolani Maritime Institute left a strong impression on us with its well-equipped facilities and machinery, tailored to cater to the needs of Merchant Navy aspirants. The campus was not only modern but also impeccably clean and well-maintained, creating a conducive environment for learning and growth.

Memorable Field Trip The staff at the institute were friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable. They graciously answered all our queries, leaving us with a sense of assurance that this institute would indeed provide an excellent learning experience for those seeking a career in the maritime industry.

One aspect that stood out to us was the institute's emphasis on sports and recreational activities. In addition to academics, the institute promoted physical fitness and mental well-being through sports such as badminton, table tennis, swimming, and boating. The availability of these activities added a fun and balanced dimension to the learning process.

Memorable Field Trip As the clock struck 01:30 pm, it was time for us to bid farewell to Tolani Maritime Institute and head back to our school campus. Despite our departure, the memories of this wonderful field trip will stay with us for a long time. We returned with a newfound appreciation for the Merchant Navy profession and a deeper understanding of the opportunities that await those who venture into this exciting field.

Memorable Field Trip I would like to conclude by saying that the trip to this institute was not only a memorable and fun experience, but was also quite an informative one as many of the aspects of Merchant Navy which were unclear to us students before were cleared and elaborated greatly upon, with a spice of useful information on the top.

The enriching experience of exploring the campus, the students' life, the staff's personalities and the overall reverie that the institute had was mesmerizing and truly a wonderful experience. I am sure it encouraged many of the students to set merchant navy as their career goal for their bright futures.

We thank our principal, Dr. Bindu Saini ma’am; vice principal, Ms. Padmavati Banda ma’am; and all the teachers who accompanied us who helped us get such a memorable experience. Thank you!

By the end of the session, students were immensely impacted positively. They learned, understood and promised to practice recycling and minimising the use of plastic; segregating the different types of waste - plastic waste, e- waste, biodegradable waste, etc.; and encourage and motivate others to be true friends of ocean and nature itself.

Building Climate Resilience:
Ensuring a Sustainable Future through Quality Education

Pune, Maharashtra | October 2022

Building Climate Resilience “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” - George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

The above quote inspires and motivates us to bring a change in our lives that remains a mark of progress and sustainable future and a change for saving our environment is the first step towards such progress. Our children need to learn the importance of saving the environment to develop resilience from the ill effects of the growing pollution and climate change that influences each aspect of life on Earth. We consistently take initiatives to make our students aware about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and make it a part of their curriculum and activities for bringing a change that is for the betterment of the world.

Building Climate Resilience Students of Grade VII participated in the Climate Action Project through a global online platform and initiative called Take Action global with earthproject.org.

The Climate Action Project is a free student-centered project, a six-week journey involving more than 3.4 million students across 149 countries. It is supported by governments in 15 countries and is founded by educator, speaker, author and environmentalist, Koen Timmers who was awarded the Global Teacher Prize in 2017 and 2018. The project aims to lead to a change of behavior through education.

Climate Action Project @ climate-action.info is a collaboration with WWF, Earth Day, and NASA, and endorsed by Jane Goodall, President Juan Migues Santos, Prince William, HH the Dalai Lama, and other eminent scientists, public figures, world leaders and Ministries of Education across 16 countries. It was covered by media across 45 countries including BBC, CNN and the National Geographic.

Building Climate Resilience The students were guided by their class teachers and brainstormed the causes, effects of climate change and solutions for combating the ill effects of climate change. They made posters, models, wrote poetry, solved worksheets, took interviews of relatives and grandparents as a part of the activities of the project.

Building Climate Resilience The students collaborated with Beaconhouse Garden Town School, Pakistan; and Positivo School, Brazil and shared the issues related to ill-effects of climate change in their respective countries. They shared their experiences of participating in the six-week Climate Action project. It was a heartwarming and fruitful collaboration for all the participating countries and was appreciated by all teachers and participants.

Teachers and Students all across the globe attended the Climate Action Webinar on the 3rd of November to mark the end of the project. They witnessed speeches by 30 prominent and famous environmental and youth activists, scientists, economists, magicians, princes, politicians and intellectuals. Also, they attended a webinar with David Pallash, Lego Group to collaborate on an activity of sharing their ideas through building sustainable cities through models made with Lego blocks for which many students responded enthusiastically.

Building Climate Resilience The new playing blocks of Lego are made of polyethylene terephthalate which is recycled from bottles, and is a step forward in the brand's sustainability mission. Thus, this webinar was conducted to motivate students to “Build the change” for a sustainable future.

With an overwhelming response from students, our school has been selected for another Lego challenge called “From school to Home “challenge for which the students will share their solutions to climate change and making sustainable cities. The students will have the opportunity for their solutions to be published on the Lego and Take Action Global website.

Building Climate Resilience All our students and participating students and teachers were awarded with certificates of participation in the Climate Action project and Webinar. Also, our school has been awarded with the Lego “Bu ild the Change” certificate for a builder of change.

At the Elpro International School’s Model United Nations Conference

Pune, Maharashtra | September 30th and October 1st, 2022

Elpro International School’s Model United Nations Conference On September 30th and October 1st, 2022, Elpro International School, Chinchwad organized a Model United Nations Conference. A near 130 students participated with 32 students in the AIPPM committee. Amey Ajgar of Grade X partook in the event. Following is his testimonial on it:

“It all started with an email stating that it is the last day to register for the reputed Elpro International School’s Model United Nations conference, and as always, in search of some adventure, I registered for it.

As I was the last on the registration roll but I got my allotment on the very first day of conference and luckily due to my good MUN experience, I was allotted for Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

didn’t have that winning confidence on the very first day but as the committee started and we proceeded with the formal committee proceedings, my habit of following politics and geopolitics helped me while writing my speeches, replies and debates.

Elpro International School’s Model United Nations Conference The book which I’m still reading “A Constructive Parliamentarian” by the great Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji helped me while having back channel talks with other delegations and aided me prove majority of 30/32 while presenting the final draft resolution with me as the author of it.

The two days were filled of debates, knowledge-passing, brainstorming and socializing, and all of it was way too much fun to handle.

I met some really interesting people who strengthened my network. If there are lessons I learned, I realised that we should never underestimate ourselves as well as others because life has a lot to surprise you with.

It was indeed a very happy moment for me when I got the Best Delegate Award in All India Political Party Movement Committee. From the depth of my heart I thank the school management, principal ma’am, vice-principal ma’am, and as special thanks to Anjali ma’am, Pravina ma’am, my friends and my parents for always supporting me unconditionally.”

Thank you Amey for the splendid testimonial. And as always, we wish you the very best as you walk the steps of life, and we have full faith and confidence in you that you will find success.
