To Asia’s Finest Educators For imparting excellence in education, for producing outstanding results in international-level Olympiads and for motivating students for their glorious future, principal, Dr. Bindu Saini; and Olympiad in-charge, Ms. Aayesha Syed were honoured with the Asia’s Finest Educator Awards by Hummingbird Education Ltd.

To Asia’s Finest Educators Students partake in Reasoning and Aptitude, Spell Bee, NEET, CET, Commerce and Sanskrit Olympiads, etc. And thus, for being great mentors to the young participants through the past years, Dr. Saini and Ms. Syed were awarded this meritorious honour.

We heartily congratulate them both for this win, and know that they will continue to bring out the best in our students now and always.

Rohit Sarkar Laurelled with an Honorary Doctorate in Special Education

Rohit Sarkar Laurelled with an Honorary Doctorate We are proud to announce that Rohit Sarkar, the Media and Publishing Department Executive, has been bestowed an Honorary Doctorate in Special Education from the International Internship University, New South Wales, Australia.

Rohit graduated with a BBA (Honours) in Human Resource from Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture and Technology, Allahabad after which he went on to pursue an MBA in Marketing from Ohio University, Ohio, USA.

Post MBA, Rohit worked as an assistant teacher for English for students of Grades VI to XII at a school in New Delhi for two years before going on to pursue an MRes/ MPhil in Consumer Behaviour from Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, England.

To Asia’s Finest Educators

Whilst residing in England, and driven with a passion for writing, he took up content-writing which soon turned to a full-time job. On returning, he worked within the Communications as well as the Emergency Department as the writer, editor and photographer for an NGO in New Delhi. He engaged in writing, editing and photographing for the organisation’s publications whilst extensively travelling across India gaining field experience in real-time disaster relief and victim interaction.

In 2019, he briefly worked at S.B. Patil International School, Indapur primarily as English Language teacher for students of Nursery to Grade VIII whilst also teaching other subjects as the need arose. He joined S.B. Patil Public School, Pune in November 2019, and currently heads the Media and Publishing Department at the school which encompasses being the Writer and Editor-in-Chief for all the school’s online and print publications, as well as the institute liaison and RJ for the Infinity Community Radio 90.4FM.

He also serves as the personal drafter, editor and proof-reader to the principal, Dr. Bindu Saini whilst aiding in meticulously composing publications shared with the stakeholders. He played a pivotal role in the publishing and submission of the British Council ISA Dossier, a document that was crucial in securing the British Council IDS certification for the school in January 2020.

With many organisational, academic and non-academic publications under his name, he is a self-taught learner of American and Indian Sign Languages; Braille with fluency in Level 1: Uncontracted Braille, and Classical Latin. He is also an avid advocate of teaching sign language and Braille within the curriculum as part of inclusive education. For this, he was recently awarded an Honorary PhD in Special Education by the International Internship University, New South Wales, Australia.

We congratulate the now Dr. Rohit Sarkar for this great honour and wish him the very best for his future endeavours.

 

Winning the Most Effective Presenter Award:
A Big Hooray to Ms. Darshana Kamat

Towards Innovative Education The National Launch Pad VI - 2022 was organised in Mumbai on December 10th, 2022. The event invited all educators to share their successful stories of getting SDGs into their classrooms. From S.B. Patil Public School three faculty members participated.

1. Ms. Anjali Gugale spoke on "Building Climate Resilience from Local to Global through Quality Education"
2. Ms. Varsha Deshmukh presented on "Plastic Pollution and climate Change"
3. Ms. Darshana Kamat spoke on "Combat climate change by preventing Food waste"

Ms. Kamat received the Most Effective Presenter Award for presenting her classroom activities showing the interconnectedness, integration and mutual reinforcement of SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption) and 13 (Climate Action) with SDG 4(Quality Education) for global prosperity, peace and a healthier planet.

Ms. Kamat is one of those teachers who go to great extents for their students. She has partaken in numerous seminars and conferences ensuring that she grows both personally and professionally. She has used all she learned here to mentor fellow teachers as well as students thus enhancing their understanding in manifold ways. And so, we congratulate Ms. Kamat on this meritorious and well-deserved win.

National Education Brilliance Award 2022

Towards Innovative Education To add another feather in his cap, Rohit Sarkar, the Media and Publishing Department Executive of S.B. Patil Public School won the NEBA Innovative Teacher of the Year 2022 award for this contribution to the field of education.

Rohit has served a near-three years at S.B. Patil Public School, and during his term as the Media and Publishing Department Executive has – through the publications, especially the newsletter, Endeavour – strived to bring out the best in students artistically and innovatively by pushing them to contribute write-ups, stories, poems, paintings, sketches, and as of late, even write testimonials of the events they participated in which are then published in the event’s main article.

We congratulate Rohit and wish him every ounce of success as he spreads creativity, innovativeness and a passion for writing within the halls of S.B. Patil Public School.
