Black and White Day on January 31st, 2025
S.B Patil Public School’s pre-primary section celebrated Black and White Day on January 31st, 2025. Black is most commonly associated with power, authority and strength. On the other hand, white is directly linked to that which is righteous, good and peaceful. They both are opposites which complement each other. Our kindergartners were welcomed on this day with decorations themed in black and white on soft boards of the classrooms displaying a multitude of black and white objects such as pandas, chess boards, and footballs; along with charts displaying the concept of day and night whilst highlighting it with the caption "Don't compare your child to others there is no comparison between the sun and moon, they shine when it's their time.” The young learners were dressed in black and white attire. They were asked to name objects they saw around them which exist in black and white, after which the teacher discussed objects displayed on the soft boards, and explained the concept of day and night. To add variety, they were also shown shadow acts with students and teachers making different shadows of birds, animals, etc. The pre-primary section had arranged different activities for students to develop their gross and fine motor skills: Nursery students had wool pasting on sheep ; the Junior KG students made fun with shadows whilst the Senior KG students made Newspaper on owl and Fun with shadows. Children in this way honed their skills and learnt to show gratitude towards all who help them.

This spirit of patriotism was filled in the air right from 24th January, 2025, as the students of S.B. Patil Public School soaked in the 76th Republic day celebration. The corridors and the classrooms were decorated with various cut-outs and balloons in tricolour.

Meanwhile, the Senior KG proudly adorned their self-made fan-folded tri-colour badges done as a part of Republic Day activity.
To instill within the children the spirit of patriotism a series of events were planned in the school. All the pre-primary students participated enthusiastically in the march parade. This was followed with an interesting skit performed by teachers to make the little minds aware about the constitution. Children joined in the chorus with their teachers to sing songs like “We Shall Overcome.” and "Nanna Munna Rahi Hu”.
With the programme concluding with an electrifying dance session, the students returned home with the seeds of patriotism being sown deep in their young hearts and minds.

Celebrating Children’s Day
Pune, Maharashtra | 14th November, 2024
Trembling, wobbling, with tiny feet, a child starts exploring this world. Reaching out for things with their tender hands, slowly they begin their journey. "There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.” – Walt Steightiff (1906 to 1978)
To honour the first prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary; to pay homage to the man who believed that children are the future of the nation, people all over India celebrate the 14th of November annually as Children’s Day. S.B. Patil Public School too paid their respects by organising a Children’s Day celebration on 14th November, 2024 for students of the pre-primary and primary sections.
In full preparation, the teachers awaited for the tiny tots to arrive brimming with excitement. The day, which was a bagless day, was one filled with fun. Amazing games were set up for the pre-primary toddlers. The school halls were filled with their laughter as their little hands painted with tattoos waved with happiness to the beats of dance. Teachers also arranged a puppet dance, magic show and a small fun- skit to embark cheerful memories for the day.
Grades I and II had fancy dress competitions whose themes were: “Save the Environment” and “My Superhero” for I; and “Zero Hunger” and “Go Green” for II. The teachers performed a funny skit, a puppet show, gave speeches and performed dances for students.
For the students of Grades III to V the Blue House teachers performed speeches on Children’s Day and Guru Nanak Jayanti, recited poems and also performed a dance number to which students cheered. As a surprise for all, Mickey Mouse especially visited the students of S.B. Patil Public School, wished the students and danced for them.
The day was not just a tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, but also a reminder of the importance of nurturing and empowering children for a brighter future. The students truly enjoyed the celebration, their faces lit with excitement and pride as they actively participated in the festivities. It was a day filled with learning, laughter, and joy—a fitting tribute to the children who are, indeed, the future of our nation.

A Kaleidoscope of Festivities:
Celebrating the Festival of Lights with Colourful Lanterns and Happy Little Hearts
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated all over the world. Diwali or Deepawali means 'rows of lights’ symbolises the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and new beginnings. To soak into the spirit of the festivities, the pre-primary students of S.B. Patil Public school had a pre-Diwali bash on 24th October, 2024. To double the celebrations the day was also marked as a bagless day.
The Diwali celebration at school means a festive look with lanterns and other decorative items adorning the classes and corridors. The activities permeate with an atmosphere of togetherness and hope. This was exactly the scene in the school premises. The students were all dresed up in their best traditional outfits. The teachers narrated the stories related to this festival; spoke about the significance of the festival, and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated.
The Nursery kids enjoyed a colour-dabbing activity on the paper cups, which were later transformed into colourful lanterns. To their joy, the tiny tots got their self-painted lanterns as a takeaway Diwali gift.
The Junior KG students immersed themselves into a diya decoration activity with various colours and glitter. The Senior KG students tried their hands at lantern-making using glazed paper. Using their little creative minds and and with the teachers' assistance, their efforts culminated into colourful lanterns which they proudly displayed later in the school corridors. All these activities help in the development of the students’ fine motor skills.
As a part of bagless day, the Junior KG students had a book-reading session wherein they could pick any book from a bunch and go through it, observe the pictures and try to understand what the pictures are depicting. The Senior KG students had a story-telling session wherein students read simple storybooks and narrated the stories to the whole class. All these activities helped in instilling a love for reading at a very young age.
The Junior KG and Senior KG students also made Diwali greetings cards. They gifted these cards along with decorated diyas to the maushis as a token of appreciation - a lesson learnt through humanity - the theme of the month.
Finally, the festivities wrapped up with an energetic dance session. The students were overjoyed with the celebrations and looked forward to the Diwali vacation that commenced from the next day.

Goodie Foodie Day Activity
World food day is celebrated every year on 16th October. The theme this year for World food day is “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”. We all have a role to play to realize the vision of a world without hunger and malnutrition, importantly when food is one of the basic necessities of life.
To imbibe early in life the importance of having healthy food with minimum wastage a ‘Goodie Foodie Day Activity’ was organized for our little ones of Pre- primary section on Wednesday,16th October 2024. Nursery students participated by getting homemade creatively prepared dishes in green colour. Students were excited to show their friends and teachers their dishes and enjoyed eating together with their friends, teachers spoke about the importance of making healthy choices while eating food and not to waste their food. Our students of Junior and Senior KG brought ingredients from home to make Corn Chat and Matki Bhel respectively. Students were encouraged to wash their hands thoroughly before cooking and were explained the importance of following hygiene while cooking. Teachers laid large bowls and students came and added their ingredients in the bowl and were asked to name them and the teacher kept explaining the importance of the food they were adding, students were also asked to stir them and add some salt and spices. Involving children in cooking gives them the freedom which nurtures a sense of self esteem and confidence. Stirring, measuring and squeezing are just a few of the kitchen tasks that allow young children to develop their fine motor and hand-eye coordination skills and also help build math skills such as addition.
The motive behind the Goodie Foodie day activity was well achieved where students through fun filled activity learned an important lesson of choosing healthy over junk food for leading a healthy life and also not to waste food. We would like to thank parents for their support in making this event a success and an enriching experience for our students.

And thus, with the aim to glorify the bond between the grandparents and the grandchildren; to honor grandparents; to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children; and to help children become aware of strength, wisdom and guidance older people can offer, the pre-primary to Grade II sections organized a Golden Agers’ celebration.

चारों ओर उत्सव है छाया, संग अपने जन्माष्टमी का त्यौहार लाया:
Celebrating Krishna Janmashtami
Education of one’s culture and heritage is an essential aspect of the school curriculum. Understanding this importance and so as to glorify Indian traditions amongst the young generation, S.B. Patil Public School celebrated Janmashtami on 26 th August, 2024 with great pomp and zeal.
Janmashtami is a festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. The day is celebrated with a lot of devotion and enthusiasm. Keeping the same spirit alive, our students came to school donned in traditional attire depicting themselves as Kanha, Radha, Gopis and Gwalas all accessorised with colourful ornaments, flutes and peacock feathers. Beautiful decorations added flavour into making the event more festive and cheerful. Teachers narrated and showed interesting stories of Lord Krishna to make the students aware about the significance of the day.
Students were also familiarised with the story of Shri Krishna lifting the Govardhan Hill. According to the legend, Lord Krishna lifted the entire Govardhan Hill on his little finger to protect the residents of Vrindavan from the wrath of Lord Indra. Devotees often perform Parikrama around the hill as an act of reverence. As an effort to save and develop this precious culture, a miniature Govardhan Hill was created in the school. Students from Nursery, Junior and Senior KG had the chance to get a feel of performing this auspicious Parikrama.
Later on, the students enjoyed re-enacting Lord Krishna's mischievous attempts of breaking the matka to steal butter from hanging pots. This followed with a music and dance extravaganza and all merrily swayed to the tunes of traditional songs. The whole environment turned the school into Kanhaiya's celestial abode ‘Gokul’. Thus, the day marked a delightful divine journey for the students.

Celebrating Blue Colour Day
“Blue is the colour of the sky… the limit of your imagination and the beginning of your dreams.”
And who else can better symbolise this limitless imagination and dreams, other than our chirpy and cheerful tiny tots. To bring out this vigour, Blue Colour Day was celebrated with great fervour on 31st July, 2024 at S. B. Patil Public School.
This day was coupled with a Bagless Day. Bagless Days are important to provide exposure to the world outside the classroom whilst also enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of students by making learning more enjoyable and interactive.
On 31st July, all the students including teachers came dressed in bright and blue shades of blue. Classrooms as well as the corridors were decorated with cut-outs and items that come in hues of blue.
To delve into a bluey mood, our Junior KG tiny tots coloured their palms blue for peacock palm printing activity. They also enjoyed to the fullest water play with balloons. Both these activities help in improving childrens' fine and gross motor skills.
The Senior KG section students tickled their creative and cognitive side of the brain by creating an aquarium on paper. Students drew fish using white crayons which popped up and surprised them when they painted the page with blue water colours.
Our little Nursery students turned the whole school environment into a fascinating Land of All Shades of Blue by enjoying a sponge-dabbing activity in which they coloured a picture of a sea using a sponge and blue paint. All these wonderful activities marked the celebration of Blue Colour Day.

Yoga for Self and Society
International yoga day theme 2024
“Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition" these are the words of our honourable Prime minister Narendra Modi. 21st June, is being celebrated as International Yoga Day throughout the world and spreading the valuable teaching and benefits of yoga that our country has got to share with the world. As educators, it comes as our responsibility to introduce our Generation Alpha at an early age to the practice of yoga for a healthy and stress free life.
Yoga helps strengthen children's growing bodies and helps them improve their flexibility. It can reduce challenging behaviours in the classroom by providing a physical outlet for children to express themselves and calm them down. On Friday, 21st June 2024 the pre primary section of S.B.Patil Public School actively participated with the entire school as everyone celebrated International yoga day under the instructions, guidance and supervision of their teachers. Simple and age appropriate yoga asanas were introduced to the pre primary students for improvement of concentration, flexibility, strengthening of their muscles and the basic Pranayama for relaxation. Students enjoyed and participated enthusiastically along with their peers and teachers thus inculcating good values in their early years of life and making it a part of their daily routine.
What can be more satisfying if daily yoga practice is going to give us harmony between the mind and body?
Happy International Yoga Day !

Planting the Seeds of Learning:
The Pre-primary First Day of School
A pre-school is the first stepping stone of a child as they venture into a world outside their home. It is an ideal setting for laying the groundwork for a child's future success.
As we, at S.B. Patil Public School commenced the Academic Year of 2024-25, the first day of school for the preschoolers was filled with mixed emotions. As the little ones came in with their parents, some were happy, some anxious, some sad as it was their first time away from the shelter of their parents and home. Parents handed over their wards to teachers with a deep trust that the little ones will be well-cared for in a school that would help their child develop strong social, emotional, physical, academic and life skill foundations; thus, prepping them for life.
As always, we, the pre-primary teachers, were ever-ready and commenced the first day of school and the Academic year with love, fun and the quote: "The seed of learning gets planted today".
