Colours of Freedom, Voices of Unity:
The Nursery to Grade III Independence Day Special Assemblies
Pune, Maharashtra | 14th August, 2025
“Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life.” – Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948)
The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, pride, and patriotic fervour at S.B.Patil public School Ravet on 15th August, 2025. The event was a heart-warming tribute to our freedom fighters and a celebration of India’s journey since gaining independence in 1947.
The celebration began with a warm welcome to the esteemed principal, HM, coordinators, staff members, students, and parents. The ceremony commenced with the Bharat Mata photo pujan, symbolising respect and devotion to our motherland. This was followed by a soulful patriotic group song performed by the school choir, which invoked a strong sense of national pride.
Students showcased their eloquence through thought-provoking speeches in English and Marathi, reflecting on the significance of freedom and the role of youth in building the nation. Their words reminded everyone of the sacrifices made by our leaders and the responsibilities we hold as citizens of a free country.
One of the key highlights of the event was a patriotic skit, skilfully enacted by students, depicting the journey of India’s struggle for freedom. The performance left a powerful impact on the audience, instilling a deeper understanding of the price of independence.
The atmosphere was further uplifted by an energetic and colourful dance performance that beautifully blended culture with patriotism, leaving the audience mesmerised.
Meanwhile the Senior KG Students participated in exciting activities like making tricolour rings, and creating tricolour fan folding peacock feathers. They enjoyed hands-on experiences with paper cutting, rolling and sticking, fan folding, and colouring.
The little ones from Junior KG crafted the national flag using tricolour ice cream sticks in their books. A creative way to learn about our nation's symbol. And the Nursery tiny tots had a blast doing a national flag colouring activity with crayons. They explored colours and had fun bringing the flag to life!
Later in the day, The Independence Day celebrations for Grades I and II commenced with an opening address, where the anchor spoke about the importance of the occasion and revisited 15th August, 1947 — the historic day when India finally broke the chains of colonial rule after a long and courageous struggle. The speech paid heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reminded everyone of the value of the hard-earned freedom we enjoy today.
This was followed by a soulful and energetic rendition of the Marathi patriotic song “बालसागर भारत हो हो”, which filled the atmosphere with pride and emotion.
Students then took the stage to present inspiring speeches in both English and Marathi, highlighting the contributions of great national heroes such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmibai, Bhagat Singh, as well as Odisha’s own Madhusudan Das and Jayee Rajguru.
Their words reflected not only on the pages of history but also on how today’s youth can draw inspiration from these figures to help build a stronger, more united India. A thought-provoking skit followed, portraying defining moments from the freedom struggle — from the Dandi March to the Quit India Movement — powerfully depicting the unity, resilience, and sacrifices of the Indian people. The performance received a standing ovation from the audience.
The celebration continued with a vibrant patriotic dance performance, where students dressed in colourful attire showcased India’s cultural richness and diversity through graceful movements set to patriotic music. The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of pride, patriotism, and responsibility towards the nation. It stood not only as a tribute to India’s glorious past but also as a call to action for the future generation to honour and uphold the values of freedom and unity.
The all the events concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to making the celebration a success — from the students who participated, to the faculty who mentored, to the IT team and all those who supported the smooth and successful execution of the events.
The Independence Day celebration was not only a tribute to our glorious past but also a reminder of our duties as citizens to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and progress. The event inspired students to dream big and contribute meaningfully to the nation.
Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!

Pune, Maharashtra | 8th August, 2025
The pre-primary section celebrated Raksha Bandhan with great joy and enthusiasm, helping students understand the historical and cultural significance of this beautiful Indian festival while emphasising the values of love, care, and responsibility among siblings and families.
The tiny tots learned about the bond between siblings and participated in hands-on activities such as making lion and rabbit faces, creating shapes through paper rolling, pasting and sticking, and bindi peeling. They tied rakhis to their friends as a symbol of caring, and enjoyed sweets together.
Alongside the celebration, teachers encouraged the message of Save the Trees, explaining how trees provide oxygen, fruits, flowers, vegetables, shade, and rainwater, and why they must be protected. For Grades I and II, the celebration, held on Friday, 8th August, 2025 extended beyond the traditional brother-sister bond to highlight that love, care, and trust can weave ties stronger than blood. Led by the students of Grades I and II along with Spurti Dal teachers, the programme included tying rakhis to invited guests, with students dressed in vibrant traditional attire, creating a colourful atmosphere.

Narrated in multiple languages, these stories enriched the cultural experience, while melodious music from Grade I students and dance performances from Grades I and II added charm and energy to the day.

A Blue-Tinted Tale:
Sparkle’s Underwater Adventure
Pune, Maharashtra | 31st July, 2025
On the occasion of Blue Colour Day, a vibrant and interactive Storytelling Session was organised for the students of Grades I and II. The session was conducted by our beloved Pre-primary teacher, Ms. Rucha Dixit, and was held in the school auditorium on 31st July, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The theme for the session was centred around sea water animals, linking beautifully with the colour blue and its natural associations.
The primary objectives of the session were to enhance listening skills, stimulate imagination and creativity, build vocabulary, and inculcate essential values such as kindness, empathy, and sharing. With her characteristic warmth and enthusiasm, Ms. Dixit brought the story alive and created an atmosphere of joyful learning.
She narrated a heart-warming tale titled Sparkle the Sea Horse, which revolved around a sea horse’s adventurous quest to find someone just like her to be friends with. Through this charming storyline, children learned that it is not just similarity but the spirit of adventure and open-heartedness that makes friendships meaningful. The story carried a subtle but important message — that adventure is key to discovering new experiences and to success.
Using expressive voice modulation, engaging gestures, and a colourful PPT filled with vivid illustrations of sea creatures, Ms. Dixit kept the students thoroughly engaged throughout the session. The storytelling was not just auditory but visual and interactive, drawing the children into Sparkle’s underwater world.
Following the story, the children took part in a lively discussion, reflecting on what they had heard. They participated enthusiastically, sharing their own ideas and emotions, and relating them to the story’s message. It was heartening to witness their curiosity and emotional responses, which reflected the session’s impact.
Sessions like these go beyond academic learning. They not only support early literacy and language development but also shape the emotional and moral compass of young minds. By weaving values into stories and encouraging open expression, storytelling proves to be a powerful tool in early education — nurturing not just the intellect, but the heart.
The Grades I and II Puppet Making and Origami Activity
Pune, Maharashtra | 25th July, 2025
On 25th July, 2025, an engaging Puppet Making and Origami activity was conducted in the Grade I and II classrooms of S.B. Patil Public School. The aim of the activity was to nurture creativity, improve fine motor skills, and encourage imaginative expression among the students through hands-on learning experiences. In addition, the session also promoted teamwork, patience, and a greater appreciation for traditional craft techniques.
During the puppet-making segment, students were guide d by their teachers to create simple puppets using everyday materials such as ice cream sticks and paper cut-outs of animal faces, fruits, and vegetables. They explored different forms of puppets including ice cream stick puppets and finger puppets. Each student enthusiastically designed their own puppet character, gave it a name, and brought it to life through storytelling and interaction. The activity sparked a great deal of excitement and creative energy in the classroom.
Following this, the origami session focused on creating a sailboat using blue origami paper. The teacher demonstrated each folding step carefully, allowing students to follow along and complete their sailboats successfully. Yoga Day Celebration
Pune, Maharashtra | 20th June, 2025
Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It's about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth about life.” — Shakuntala Devi (1929–2014)
Living by this philosophy, S.B. Patil Public School once again proved that true learning happens beyond textbooks and classrooms. Celebrating International Yoga Day 2025 with the global theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the school embraced the spirit of unity, wellness, and mindful living through vibrant sessions held on 20th and 23rd June, 2025 — tailored specially for different age groups. On 20th June, 2025, the pre-primary participated in a lively and immersive yoga celebration. The youngest learners delighted in a series of activities that introduced them to asanas through movement, music, and storytelling.
The sessions were guided by the Guest of Honour, Ms. Gauri Durgesh Karvir — a yoga instructor and educator with qualifications in MSc, BEd, and a Diploma in Yoga. With her grounding in Yog Prarambhik Pariksha and her current work on the government’s Happiness Index curriculum, Ms. Karvir brought both expertise and warmth to the mat. Her engaging approach, especially with the younger students, turned each posture into a moment of joy and mindfulness.
Their session included more advanced asanas such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, and Paschimottanasana — each chosen to build posture, stability, and calm. Breathing techniques like Bhramari Pranayama and Anulom Vilom further helped students centre themselves and connect breath with movement.
The celebration was a gentle yet powerful reminder: that the health of the self and the health of the planet are interlinked. As students stretched, breathed, and moved with intention, they also absorbed the deeper message of the day — to live mindfully, harmoniously, and in rhythm with the world around them.
First Day of Pre-primary Sections
Pune, Maharashtra | 25th April, 2025
S.B. Patil Public School began the new academic year of 2025-26 with immense warmth and cheer, as it welcomed the youngest members of its student body into the pre-primary section. Our Superheroes and Barbie Dolls – our tiny friends – were met with bright smiles and open hearts as we embarked on this delightful new journey together.
The opening days were spread across three dates: Senior KG on 9th April, 2025, Junior KG on 10th April, 2025, and Nursery on 15th April, 2025. As parents walked through the vibrantly decorated entrance of the school premises, they were warmly received by the principal, Dr. Bindu Saini; the headmaster, Ms. Shubhangi Kulkarni; and the pre-primary coordinator, Ms. Supreya Nitin. Their affectionate presence reassured anxious parents and gently eased the little ones into this exciting new chapter.
Preschool is indeed a very special stage in everyone’s life, where new friendships blossom and first learning experiences are etched into memories. In preparation for this important milestone, we teachers made great arrangements – creating a lively play area, setting up a singing and dance stage, and providing an array of toys, books, and colourful visuals to foster a joyful learning environment. The classrooms, corridors, and school premises were adorned with colourful balloons, streamers, and welcoming signs, creating a warm, festive atmosphere for our little learners.
To make the transition smooth and memorable, a variety of engaging activities had been thoughtfully arranged. Children were treated to cheerful cartoon screenings and invited to participate in vibrant sessions of music, dance, singing, and poetry recitation. These joyful experiences not only helped break the ice but also encouraged our champs to express themselves freely, form bonds with their peers, and step confidently into this new world of exploration.
It was truly a day filled with laughter, wonder, and the beginning of many beautiful friendships. With such a promising and affectionate start, the pre-primary students at S.B. Patil Public School are all set to embark on a remarkable journey of fun, learning, and growth. Let us make this academic year 2025-26 truly memorable – together!
